Hey Nerds! I'm back. I've been having an extended break from many things in life, not just the VS Blog, for the past 6 weeks. But now that Mercury has moved out of Retrograde, life is finally getting back on track, and I'm ready to share some thrifts!
And what a triumphant return I have to share! First as most of you know, it was Christmas this past weekend. I received many lovely thrifted gifts from my Mother and my friends. Here is a highlight reel:
A Kings Crown compote from Mom:
Mom also picked up this dish and tray set at an Estate Sale:
We are still puzzling over what it might be. Part of a vanity set? A sugar without its creamer? It's a mystery.
As usual I spent the Holiday weekend with the Vinyl Whores who presented me with many vintage cookbooks to add to my collection. They may have gone a bit overboard.
They also gave me this new old stock Santa. The Boys scored at a hardware store where the owner reportedly has not bought any new stock since the 60's. We call the Santa "Tippy" since he doesn't really like to stay upright on that weird donut thing he's standing on.
He'll stay in his package until next Christmas when once again I will try to find the time and energy to decorate for Christmas. (It's my most consistent Holiday tradition.)
On my way back up to Connecticut on Monday evening I made a few stops along the way at some of my favorite places to shop. Namely Stew Leonard's and the Westport Goodwill. Westport was kind of a bust so I decided to make one last stop at the Goodwill in Bridgeport before heading home. It's a good thing I did.
Some of the workers were putting out new merchandise for the next day and had pushed out several carts with bins onto the sales floor. I gave them a brief once over and when I got to the end I spied a boot with a Frye tag inside. I gasped, I picked it up and checked the size: 7 1/2. Maybe slightly too small, I'm an 8. Damn! I tried them on anyway, and they fit like they were made for me. Then I flipped over the boot to read the price...
$12. Yes, this $218.00 pair of boots for $12. Sold!
