Thrifts of Terror: A Mid-Century Lamp of a Different Color

She looks like she should be an extra in a Puccini Opera,
with her kerchief and her bowl of gruel.

Seriously, what decorating scheme calls for a lamp of a pesant woman?

  1. I have to admit...that's pretty grim. :) Oh, wait...should that be :( instead? Too much levity seems out of place juxtaposed with the bowl of gruel.

  2. Every time I see this I think "hmmm, maybe painted a solid color this could be kinda cool" thanks for setting me straight!

  3. I think it could work if you find a matching statue of a street urchin, "Please sir, may I have some more pudding? How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your gruel?" LOL! I see these all the time at the thrifts! I always wonder, who had these?
